Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) monitors the administration of workers' compensation claims and provides services to assist in resolving disputes with claims for workers' compensation benefits. DWC is looking for an efficient individual with the ability to independently prepare legal correspondence. The SLT will review and process legal documents such as case openings, pleadings, and other correspondence. The SLT will also assist parties and litigants with inquiries and updates in person, by telephone, or email. Additionally, the SLT will transcribe dictation from a dictating machine for reports, decisions, or orders.

Our offices and court are conveniently located in a modern high-rise building containing a cafeteria and non-subsidized childcare, close to BART and MUNI, within walking distance of Union Square and Hayes Valley shops and restaurants as well as the Twitter Building, which contains several healthy take-out restaurant choices. The SLT works in a smoke-free DWC Office under LED lighting, controlled temperature, quiet to moderate noise levels; equipped with cubicles, computers, and other office equipment. We offer a hybrid work schedule in accordance with DIR’s telework policy.Proficient with Microsoft Office products including, Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point. Typing Certificate of 45 words per minute, ability to read and write English at a level required for successful job performance, establish and maintain effective working relationships, communicate effectively, follow directions, analyze situations and take effective action using good judgment in decision making, manage time and resources effectively and be responsive to management needs.
