Job Title: Welder Job Description

We are currently seeking experienced Tig/Mig Welders to support expanding production operations in Kings Bay, GA, with additional project opportunities across the United States. This role involves supporting the repair and construction of U.S. Navy submarines and their critical components in a high-performance, safety-driven environment. As a Structural Welder, you will play a key role in building and maintaining advanced naval vessels that meet the highest standards of quality, precision, and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Perform welding and fabrication tasks for both new construction and repair of submarine components.
  • Utilize Pulse MIG (GMAW) and Push Button TIG (GTAW) welding processes.
  • Interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings to plan and execute work.
  • Cut, burn, and weld various metals to fabricate and repair structural components.
  • Prepare and clean surfaces prior to welding; assemble and track weld parts.
  • Weld in flat, vertical, and overhead positions using techniques such as FCAW, GMAW, and SMAW.
  • Build up worn or defective surfaces and repair existing equipment.
  • Operate burning equipment to dismantle assemblies and cut materials to required specifications.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Collaborate with team members while also working independently when required.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience in structural welding, including both new construction and repair work.
  • Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and layout specifications.
  • Positive attitude with flexibility to perform a variety of tasks.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.
  • Must possess or be eligible for Secret Security Clearance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • No prior welding certifications required but must have proven welding experience.
  • Selected candidates will go through a training program.
  • Ideally have 1+ years minimum experience in a shipyard or the Navy working on submarines.
  • At minimum, welding school and experience in the field.
  • Welding experience with TIG and MIG.

Work Environment

The work site is located at Kings Bay Naval Base in Kings Bay, GA. Initially, work will start off in a production shop off base in St Marys, GA, which often has over 30 people. There may be opportunities to move on base or travel as needed. The base shift is from 0600-1430, with the possibility of overtime. Flexibility for off-shift work based on workload is required. Proper PPE, work pants, and an appropriate shirt are necessary, but there is no strict dress code outside of PPE requirements.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Marys, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
