Street Maintenance Worker I
The City of Warrensburg Missouri is accepting applications for an opening in our Public Works Department for the position of Street Maintenance Worker I .
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
The Street Maintenance Worker I performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the repair and maintenance of City streets, sidewalks, curb, bridges, stormwater systems. Assists and operates a wide variety of tools including welders, cutters and power tools to complete maintenance of equipment and facilities as necessary assuring for safety. Operates trucks, loaders, brush hog, and other related equipment to maintain streets, right of-way and drainage way. Assists in the maintenance of buildings and grounds of City owned property including repairs, painting and other related work. Removes trash in the downtown area and other City locations. Responds to emergency situations as needed involving accidents, road spills, debris, or other situations; assists with traffic control when necessary, setting up and taking down barricades, closing streets and directing and controlling traffic. Performs routine preventive maintenance on equipment and machines.
This position is Full Time non-exempt with an hourly rate between $15.85 - $24.76 ($32,978.00 - $51,500 annual), salary will be based on relevant experience. Work Schedule: On-Site Role, 5x8, Monday – Friday. Occasional Overtime as requested/required.
The City of Warrensburg Benefits package includes eleven paid holidays plus two paid floating holidays each year, Accrued Paid Time Off (PTO) and City funded Medical, Dental, Life Insurance and Retirement plans including LAGERS.
Essential Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Knowledge of hazards and safety rules and precautions in heavy equipment operation. Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances and rules involved in equipment operation. Knowledge of safe, efficient operation of assigned equipment and observance of traffic laws and regulations.
Minimum Requirements:
One (1) year of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Valid Drivers Missouri License is required.
Must be able to obtain an A-CDL License with Air Brakes within 12 months of hire.
*Ability to reliably commute (one (1) hour or less) or willingness to relocate to Warrensburg, MO 64093.
