About the Role
Our firm is recruiting on behalf of a leading global provider of logistics and supply chain solutions that supports international air and ocean freight movements for customers around the world. This role supports gateway and consolidation operations within global forwarding, ensuring shipments move efficiently, compliantly, and on time across international borders.
The Gateway Agent plays a critical role in operational execution, documentation accuracy, and cross-functional communication in a fast-paced, international logistics environment. Job Description
The Gateway Agent is responsible for coordinating and executing international shipments while maintaining high standards of operational excellence, data integrity, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Maintain operational excellence across international shipping processes from purchase order issuance through final cargo delivery
  • Prepare, process, and assemble required documentation for air freight, LCL, and FCL shipments
  • Ensure shipment documentation is accurate, timely, and properly distributed to carriers, customers, agents, and internal partners
  • Apply industry knowledge and critical-thinking skills to adapt processes and develop solutions to operational challenges
  • Execute and coordinate shipment-related tasks to meet all standard operating procedure (SOP) requirements, including:
    • Submission of shipping instructions to carriers
    • Creation and management of export bills of lading
    • Shipment tracking, status updates, pre-alerts, and invoicing
  • Create, update, and maintain shipment records within the transportation management system (TMS), ensuring data accuracy
  • Maintain a high level of data integrity at the master consolidation level, including routing, Incoterms, regulatory status, and documentation
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with overseas offices, agents, customers, and external vendors to ensure smooth shipment execution
  • Promote positive working relationships within the team and across functional partners
  • Adhere to local, national, and international laws, regulations, and company procedures
  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on business or regional needs
Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1–3 years of experience in global forwarding or international logistics
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Preferred
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in logistics, supply chain, or a related field
  • 2–4 years of experience in gateway operations or shipment consolidations
  • Strong communication, prioritization, and multi-tasking abilities
  • Excellent customer service skills with consistent follow-up
  • Strong critical-thinking, problem-solving, and adaptability skills
  • High attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and an inclusive, respectful workplace
